Week 10 has been a bit of a slower week meaning we’re spent the week on campus attending classes. When I say slower, it means we’re in school from about 8am-6pm so they’re still relatively long days. Most of our weeks we’ve had multiple Tiyulim, which means multiple trips; however with this week, we only had one trip or Tiyul.
Our Tiyul this week brought us back to Jerusalem. We visited a seminary which is basically where girls who are taking a gap year in college come to learn and study Torah. We met and studied with a couple of them and it was really interesting to learn about the lifestyle they live. We read a couple verses from a book called Lashon Hara, which basically is a Jewish law to never gossip about someone. Reading this book with two of my other friends was definitely eye opening for all of us as we are teenage girls who have definitely gossiped before. There were many learnings and one was to follow this law to become better people.
After the seminary we had LOTS (lunch on the streets) and we shopped in some of the stores and grabbed lunch at a quaint cafe. I even met some Israeli’s from Los Angeles while eating which was funny. For LOTS I was with my two friends, Bella and Mia, and when we were heading back to the bus, we accidentley put in the wrong directions which took us on a 30 minute detour to the other side of town. Yes Mom and Dad, if you’re reading this I was lost in the suburbs of Jerusalem practicing my Hebrew. 🙂 In the moment we were super annoyed because it was scorching hot, but looking back, we actually laughed the whole time.

We continued the week by attending classes. The gym at school finally opened up so most of us have spent a lot of time working out at night. We ended the week with another open-weekend. I spent this Shabbat with my friend Sophie in Tel-Aviv. We went to Gordan Beach, which is my favorite beach here. We went swimming at sunset which was so much fun and peaceful. It’s amazing how peaceful Israel can be despite the roughness of the world that surrounds it. The weather has changed a lot here and it’s feeling a lot like summer, now. We had Shabbat with Sophie’s sister and went to bed relatively early to catch up on some sleep.

On Saturday, we slept-in and grabbed Acai bowls and smoothies for breakfast at my favorite smoothie shop here called Tamarah. This has become a staple to our days. I met up with my friend Mia who was also staying in Tel Aviv and we went shopping on the board-walk and went to the beach. Later, Sophie and I got ready for dinner and we went to a nice restaurant close to campus.
This week was definitely more relaxed, I tried to catch up on some much needed sleep and started working out. Summer is coming!!
Stay Tuned!
