We began this week by boarding the bus to head to Tel Aviv. We spent the day at the Carmel Market, similar to the Machneyuda Shuk. I ventured off with my friends and we tasted different fruits, smoothies, candies, and of course I had to get falafal. It was sooo good. I love going into different shuks because of the constant food tasting.

The next day we had another Tiyul to the Sha’ar hagai museum and saw some old military tanks. We learned about the War of Independence which was when Israel finally became a Jewish state in 1948. It is honored and celebrated every year just like our fourth of July is in the states.

The weather here in Israel has shifted and spring is definitely here. At the beginning of my journey we had so much rain and now the sun is out shining brighter than ever. I forgot how strong the sun was here until I fried myself while looking at the military tanks a few days ago. I definitely will be wearing more sunscreen now.
We spent the rest of the week attending classes like usual. For Shabbat, we went back to Tel Aviv. We stayed at hotel by the beach and went to an orthodox synagogue for Shabbat night. It was really nice. A couple of my friends convinced one of my madrihim which is like a camp councilor to go to the beach at night and get ice-cream. So we walked in our pjs to the beach at midnight. It was so much fun.
On Saturday, my friend Sophie’s mom signed a few of us out and we went to Gordan Beach. It was such a beautiful day swimming in the water and soaking up the reys of sunshine, hanging with my friends, getting a tan, laughing and just loving life.

We later met up with 2 of my other friends at the beach and we got sandwiches and ice cream, buried our toes in the sand and repeated everything we did earlier. Life is good here.
We ended the week with Havdala and taking another trip back to Hostage Square. We weren’t there for long but it was really meaningful. It’s heartbreaking and refreshing all at the same time if that makes sense. It’s horrific that we still have 134 hostages being held and it’s beautiful at the same time seeing Israel and the Israeli people come together and support one another.

This week was really fun and defiantly a preview into summer!
Stay tuned for next week
Xoxo,
