About Izzy

Hi, I’m Izzy!

Who am I? Well… I’m the creator and author behind this blog. I am a sophomore in high school living in Park City, Utah, originally an LA transplant. I am an American with bi-cultural parents.

This is not my first experience abroad but it is certainly without my family and the comforts and security of what that brings. I am a world traveling enthusiast who has decided to spend a high school semester abroad in Israel. Yes, Israel, at a time when things aren’t so stable after the horrific day of October 7th, 2023 and the current war in Gaza.  I have indeed left my comfort zone. In fact, I must learn to be comfortable with myself while being a sponge in a foreign land and learn about what life is like in such an environment. I embarked upon this journey without any friends, certainly not being fluent in Hebrew and never have lived in a dormitory with many roommates. Its all so new!

My philosophy is, if one if fortunate enough to have an opportunity to go abroad… I say, embrace it… embrace life, GO ABROAD. GO DIRECTLY ABROAD. DO NOT PASS GO, DO collect some money, but for the love of everything worth living, GO ABROAD.

Why would I do this… well… follow along with me as I embark on this enriching and transformative experience and hopefully the experiences I share with you will give you the courage to do the same one day and embrace this beautiful world of ours.
