Week 17

Wow how the time has FLOWN by as it’s already our last open weekend/Shabbat.

After my AP test, my friend Amari and I took a car to meet our 4 other friends at the apartment we were staying at in Tel Aviv. The six of us are like sisters so the energy is off the charts anytime we’re together but especially hanging in an apartment by ourselves. We had dinner reservations at a sushi restaurant so we all got ready together. Imagine 6 teenage girls, with thousands of wardrobe changes, makeup products, hair tools, and shoes EVERYWHERE across the apartment. We pulled it together after singing and getting ready and we walked to the restaurant. This restaurant was probably the best sushi I have ever had. It was so good.

After stuffing our faces with the most delicious sushi ever, we made our way through Tel Aviv and then later to the beach to meet up with some of our other friends. It was such a fun night. We ended by all of us back at the apartment at 3am watching a movie and having the all time best sleepover ever.

Do you want to know the true definition of PERFECTION? Well, it’s waking up 12:30pm and walking to the beach all smiles with your best friends. 🙂 We were starving so we grabbed acai bowls, my favorite breakfast in Israel, and then settled at the beach. We swam and tanned all day.  During the week we are on the go so much that when we can just lay in the sand and soak up the rays and memories, we take advantage of it.

No surprise here, laying in the sand takes quite a bit of energy so what did we do next? We grabbed lunch at a cute restaurant on the sand and then went swimming again. In Israel, so much of life revolves around incredible spices and delicious food so when we can take advantage, we do.

We finished the day with yet another ‘getting ready session’ with my girls and found our way to this really cute cafe before we headed back to campus to start the next week. This was probably one of the best weekends of my life spending it with my best friends.

After the weekend, we had our last day of regular classes before our big camping trip. The school day started out pretty typical, classes, tanning, however this day ended up being a tad different than others. My friend Bella and I were tanning during our lunch break and all of a sudden we heard a loud siren. At first we thought it maybe was a firetruck so we ignored it. Then the siren kept going off so we immediately ran across our entire school in bikinis and flip flops to the bomb shelter in our dorms. As we were running, we saw the birds flying away in the sky and the Iron Domb intercepting the rockets. It was a fear I have never experienced in my life before. I honestly have never ran faster and I experienced such an adrenaline rush. Once we got into the bomb-shelter we were all okay. We had each other and our teaches were there. We waited for about 15 minutes and then we proceeded with our regular classes afterwards. I’ve learned that people cope in different ways with emotionally scary events.  I was personally fine, it was just a scare at first. I definitely felt like an Israeli now as I quickly reminded myself that I knew the drill. This happens and it’s just apart of the fabric here.

We spent the rest of the day packing and preparing for our 4 day long hiking trip called Yam Le Yam, which means Sea to Sea which is what my next blog will uncover!

Stay Tuned!
